I’m sitting in my office at home for the last time for a while. On a normal day, I like to get up early so that I can pray and work before the rest of the house (with a few exceptions) wake.  Today is different though.  Through the open door behind me, bustle and excited conversation in the kitchen makes it clear that today is no ordinary day.  Today we leave for the Czech Republic. In about twenty four hours we will be there.

In about an hour, I expect the newest member of our mission team, Pastor Tim, to arrive at our home.  Then we will travel to the church where we will be met by Shelby, Quincy, and Andrew Mickey.  After a passport check and prayer, we will zoom off to the airport.  We will check into our flights, as Pastor Tim returns the van to our home.

If all goes according to plan, we will board our first flight just before noon.  In a few hours we will land in Detroit, then the next two legs of our journey will take to Amsterdam (Netherlands), then Krakow (Poland).  In Krakow we will be met by Marcel and Radek who will drive us the final leg of our journey to Český Těšín.  There will be an opportunity for us to eat when we arrive, but the real challenge will be staying awake so that we can adjust to the local time zone – we’ll see how that goes.

A lot can happen on a travel day like this. We have planned our course, but the Lord will direct our steps.

Prayer Requests

  • Uneventful Travel
  • Health for the team as well as those we leave at home
  • That we remain flexible to God’s plan and timing
