It might seem strange that the theme for this year’s winter camp is “Peace on Earth”.  With the war in Ukraine dragging onward and escalations in the middle east, it seems that Peace on Earth is a laughable concept.

However, if we turn back the clock to the eve of Jesus’ birth, we see a promise of God that is just as important for us now as it was to those in first century Palestine.  To announce the arrival of our Savior, God sent angels to proclaim the message:

And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army of angels praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased.”” Luke 2:10-14 (NASB)

The Savior of the world brought with him the promise of peace – not absence of external conflict — that will come later.  But more importantly, Jesus brings deep rest for our souls that comes only from being restored to a right relationship with God.

This winter we are partnering again with the Brethren Church in Český Těšín to put on another youth winter mini-camp and share the peace and joy that comes only from knowing Jesus.  There will be more information coming later.  For now, here is an overview:

When:  December 18-26

What: Winter Mini-Camp in partnership with the Brethren Church in Český Těšín.  Camp will last three days, and then follow-up activities for students and families including a hike and American Christmas-themed open house.

Where: We will be traveling to the Czech Republic.  The camp will be held in the Beskyd mountains.  The follow-ups will be in the town of Český Těšín.

Who is Going: Doug, Chris, Levi, Anna, Leah, and Noah Sandy, Shelby and Quincey Carson, and Andrew Mickey

Needs: The financial needs for the trip (and the year) have almost been met.  God has been faithful for providing.  If, however, you would like to support the ministry financially, you may do so by designating your giving for the Czech Missions.  Our larger need, however, is prayer support.  If you are willing and able to pray regularly for our team as we prepare and go, please talk with Shelby Carson.

Prayer Requests: Please pray for wisdom as we finish up the remaining planning items for the trip.
