Today was a celebration of the first day of camp.  We spent the morning and early afternoon in preparation.  Class materials were prepared, workshops were finalized, and supplies were sorted.  The hotel was a flurry of activity as both the Czech and American teams worked together to get things done.  The clock was ticking because at 3:00 campers were scheduled to arrive.  I am getting ahead of myself though.

The real ministry of the day began this morning with worship time, prayer, and Shelby sharing a short devotion with the leaders.  It set our hearts on Jesus as we began a busy (and sometimes chaotic) morning and early afternoon of focused preparation.

After lunch, the international praise band spent time together rehearsing the day’s songs.  lead vocals and guitars were played by Czechs, but three of our team members rounded out the instruments.  It is a great picture of unity and cooperation to see the band come together.

When students began to arrive, it was like a second reunion (the first being with the Czech leaders yesterday).  There were also a lot of new faces too.  It was great to greet the campers, and everyone is excited for what camp has in store for them.

Tonight’s evening program set the pattern for what can be expected in the evenings.  The Czech leadership team gave an amazing presentation that posed the question of “What is real life?”  complete with an introduction skit, and a guest appearance from the apostle Paul.  Although we were not part of the discussion groups, the feedback I have heard was universally positive.

Now with the evening coming to a close, we face sleep with the knowledge that we have served well.  We look forward to the first full day of camp tomorrow.  Until then, we rest.
