The day has finally come for us to depart to the Czech Republic for winter camp.  In the kitchen I hear the kids, all in various stages of waking, excitedly eating breakfast.  In just less than 45 minutes we will travel by van to the airport, then begin the check in process for our 24 hour travel to Český Těšín.   I will grab my breakfast in just a moment, but I wanted to jot down a few thoughts before I do.

Today I woke up with a song in my heart, which is not unusual for me.  Normally it is something that I have heard recently – at the Sunday worship service, on the radio, even something one of the kids might have been singing.  In this case, it was from a Family Bible Church Christmas Eve service from 2007. – “He Made a Way in a Manger.”  The song tells about how God the Father made a way for salvation that began with His one and only Son being born in a manger.  Jesus came with purpose and with understanding there would be a cost.

Today, as we take on the inconvenience (and excitement) of air travel, we also go with purpose – sharing the love of Christ.  The same love that began with the manger and ultimately led to the cross.  Thankfully, we are not heading to the cross.  We are heading to meet fellow laborer’s in Christ who also share the love of Jesus.  As we partner together we hope to make a lasting difference in the lives of just a few youth.  I don’t know what all the details will look like, but I do know one thing: we can expect challenges and joys.  We look forward to sharing them with you here and rejoicing with you when we return.  Until then, grace and peace through our shared Lord and Savior!
