The first light of morning seemed to come earlier today than all the other days. But the dim light of dawn was a gentler reminder than the unwelcome blare of the alarm clock which signaled time to pull myself out of slumber. Gauging by my roommate’s responses, it wasn’t any easier for them than it was for me. But the day was beginning – our last day of camp. It was a day to finish well. It was a day for farewells, and a day to change pace.
After hastily pulling ourselves together, the morning worship/prayer/devotion time began. This time Shelby Carson shared about the importance of waiting on God’s timing. it was a great talk that connected well with many of the people who sat listening (though some were still struggling to shake off the remnants of slumber that hovered in the morning air)
After breakfast we headed to English classes. Today’s classes featured a white elephant gift exchange, Christmas cards for each other, and the first round of farewells.
By the time 2:30 rolled around, most campers were traveling back to their homes. Although we have several follow-up activities, this might be the last time we see many of the students for quite a while. There were many hugs, and some tears. We hope to see the student’s again soon, but even more, we hope that God continues the work in their hearts that we have had a brief privilege of witnessing this winter.
