Tonight’s evening program looked familiar — dancing, music, the skit — but the atmosphere shifted. You could feel it in the room. The energy softened, the students leaned in, and suddenly the night wasn’t just entertainment anymore.
Viet, our camp director, shared his story of forgiveness and connected it to the prodigal son — not the runaway younger brother, but the older one who stayed home, did everything right, and still missed the Father’s heart. His honesty opened a door, and through it he walked the students into the four spiritual laws:
- God loves you and created you for relationship with Him.
- Our sin separates us from God.
- Jesus is God’s solution — offering forgiveness and new life.
- We must respond. We must personally accept His invitation.
Simple. Clear. Direct.
Afterward, students moved through Labyrinth, a sensory walk lit with soft LED lights guiding them from station to station. Each stop asked a deeper question — about life, identity, hope, and ultimately Jesus’ invitation. Quiet space, gentle light, honest reflection. The station that struck me most was the one about dreams.
My dream is the same one I’ve carried for years: to see Christ mobilize His church — in America and in Czechia — to make disciples who make disciples. This is the Great Commission. Not a distant idea, but a living call that begins in the hearts of real people asking real questions. Tonight, that’s exactly what students were doing. They weren’t wrestling with abstract theology. They were wrestling with understanding their relationship to God and His call on their lives.
The gospel could reach every people group in our lifetime. That isn’t exaggeration — it’s reality. The question is not whether God can do it. The question is how we will respond. Tonight, under the glow of LED lights, many students took their first step toward answering that question.
And we pray they keep walking. We pray we do too.
